The World Family Cookbook

A family cookbook is an easy-to-understand example of a knowledge base that is used and edited by a large group of people. Favorite recipes are shared and passed among family and friends from generation to generation. We have expanded this idea to an online "World Family Cookbook" designed to grow into the world's biggest and most useful cookbook. The KnowledgeCenter cookbook allows users to contribute an infinite variety of recipes and recipe categories, as well as to rate, sort and evaluate recipes. Comments allow users to share tips and variations on recipes contributed by others. Eventually, users will be able to custom-sort dozens of recipes for any type of dish from any cuisine.

ON THIS TEST DRIVE YOU CAN:
  • Find recipes that rate highest for any combination of rating criteria (taste, health, ease of preparation, contributor ranking, level of comment support, name, or date of posting). The date of posting is the default sort, allowing new postings to get initial exposure and a chance to compete for ratings.
  • Submit & rate recipes yourself.
  • Contribute comments, tips and variations.
  • Create new subject categories.
  • Search for recipes by key words either in the name or in the recipe itself.
  • View a visual map of the entire cookbook.
  • Communicate with other community members by instant email.

JokeCenter
The JokeCenter forum allows people to sort jokes in various categories by such criteria as originality, humor and "tastefulness." Sorting jokes in a category by originality causes the most original jokes (according to users opinions) to appear at the top of the list. Once people have seen them, they will percolate down in the originality scale, thus assuring that site visitors can always find the most original jokes when they sign onto the site. Sorting jokes by tastefulness or "inverse tastefulness" allows users to find jokes that match their own sense of humor. Users can contribute an unlimited number of jokes or new categories.
